It should be noted that David J. Carlo, head of the FPOU makes some of the
commentaries on the FPOU survey. He is one of those police officers
who believes that he is entitled to a coffee break
at the very beginning of his shift as the first order of business.

  1. A major issue some of us civilians have with the Framingham police is called dereliction of duty by refusing to enforce illegal immigration laws. This costs the taxpayers around $20-$30 million a year in Plyler vs Doe costs. This cost exceeds the police department's annual budget.

  2. The fundamental problem with the Framingham police is that the majority of police officers get corrupted by power and we civilians witness this all the time.

  3. Civilian complaints must have priority. We civilians pay the police with our taxes. The police are public servants even if their overinflated egos tell them they are our rulers and in control. The police are here to protect us, not to harass or stalk civilians.

We pay for the service, we have the right to complain about poor service and the holier than thou attitudes that these public servants clearly exhibit.

  4. A cursory review of the site http://www.crimemapping.com indicates that most of the crime in Framingham occurs directly around the police station. Why is that? Why does it continue? When the crime is this area is reduced, then we can say that the police department has any credibility.

  5. As someone who regularly interacts with the Framingham police, I can testify that these people don't understand the concept of work. I see them at Dunkin Donuts all the time or parked in back parking lots. Perhaps some of these officers should get a real job doing real work if only they had real skills.

  6. Carlo notes that our police chief is not a resident of Framingham. Carlo does not say how many FPOU members are not residents of Framingham.

  7. The comments note that there are 83 members in the FPOU but repeatedly talks about only 7 officers patrolling the town. Given vacation/sick time, I would expect at least 20 police officers plus rank per shift. The number 7 must be bogus or they get far more time off then I thought.

  8. The midnight shift needs a much smaller staff than the any other shift. Even thieves like to sleep. Carlo should show us stats on crimes from the point of view of time of day to make his case. Area D has minimal crime.

  9. Given the 11 sergeants and eleven lieutenants, I agree that the rank should be involved in more patrols but they fear either the criminals or the civilians.

  10. The officers seem concerned that an officer may get hurt because of a lack of manpower. There is no concern shown about the fact that the Framingham police have killed two civilians and seriously injured a third in four years. (Karl Thomsen and Eurie Stamps, Sr.). Officer Hurton was wounded.

  11. For all their whining, I don't see anyone resigning to get a better job. That's what I did when I did not like my situation. I guess unions are made just so you can whine and complain.

  12. If we want to improve the Framingham police, allow me some suggestions as to who we should get rid of.

    • Peter Galvani
    • Christopher Burrell
    • Scott Brown
    • Gregory Reardon
    • William Delaney
    • Kenneth Blass
    • Steve Casey
    • Paul Duncan
    • Steven Trask
    • Ken Ferguson

Mind you, this is just a starter list, but it will make me feel safer. Then we can fire any officer who fails to enforce immigration laws.

  13. I wonder if we can get one single officer to admit that they are public servants? I doubt it.
