This is the category where Police Chief Steven Carl is a miserable failure in law enforcement. There is no law or court ruling that stops him from asking the immigration status of those arrested, particularly those driving without a license. Why not ask, and if they cannot show evidence of a green card or valid VISA, book them, photograph them, fingerprint them and deliver them to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in downtown Boston. If ICE releases them, then it can at least be said that Carl did his job. At the moment, he's not willing to lift a finger to help the taxpayers. The taxpayers should do everything possible to reduce the funding of the police department if the police are unwilling to do their job.
Steven Carl shows us that he is merely a political lackey to the Board of Selectman and doesn't do law enforcement.
If you or someone you know gets hit by one of these illegals without a license, do you hosnestly think they have insurance? Do you think that they will answer to any charges or will they simply melt away into the shadows of another town in another state? This is a huge advantage of being undocumented and unseen in society's shadows.
