Through Framingham's now famous
and the Framingham police chief's
the police chief and every Framingham police officer are aiding and
abetting illegal aliens by failing to uphold the integrity of and not
US immigration laws and thus
encouraging more illegal immigration. Regretably, the police
are required by law
to enforce these
US immigration laws.
Given that crime is an economic activity and that the illegal aliens are mostly on the lower end of the social economic spectrum, the subsequent low level crime wave is mostly handled by the Framingham police. The police are thus creating the conditions for crime and alleviating the crime simultaneously. This is how government works in Framingham. First, create a problem and generate the solution for the problem. In essence, the police justify their continued existence by suppressing the crime that they help to enable.
One of the most obvious repercussions of this sanctuary policy, is that thirty-five percent (35%) of the students in Framingham schools do not speak english as their primary language. Each student costs the taxpayers an average of $15,000 per year to educate. This is a side effect of the Plyler v. Doe Supreme Court decision.
Providing for the welfare of local citizens is the very essence of municipal government. When Framingham specifically encouraged illegal immigration with its Welcoming Proclamation , the town literally hurt the economic welfare of its local citizens by placing an undue financial burden on its beleaguered taxpayers. As a general policy, illegal aliens should never be made to feel welcome in Framingham.
Illegal immigration is an unfunded mandate being forced on the local taxpayers through the lack of law enforcement.
It costs $11 million a year for the police department but the resulting costs to our schools in illegal immigration may conservatively be estimated at $25 million. More than twice the cost of the police department. The total school costs in 2008 was about $127 million.
The police have taken an oath to uphold the law, and enforcing the law falls under upholding it. By refusing to enforce the law they are violating their oath
Illegal aliens in Framingham generate over half the work load of the Framingham police department. Getting rid of illegals would be bad for the police unions, but would allow us to significantly reduce the police force.
The police chief has complained that he does not have the resources to deal with the issue of illegal immigration, so his solution is not to enforce these laws. Who gave our chief law enforcement officer the right to ignore these laws?
The police can say that he is enforcing the will of the Board of Selectman. Municipalities do not have the authority to regulate how police enforce the law. A municipality cannot tell police officers to ignore certain laws and enforce others. The failure to enforce these laws constitutes a systemic failure of a local governmental agency, the Framingham police.
The police chief can claim that he cannot afford to enforce immigration laws but to do nothing is simply dereliction of duty. Imagine if you will, if our Department of Public Works thought it was too expensive to plow us out of a large storm and the decision is made not to plow at all. How would we react?
With each person stopped or arrested, the police can inquire about their immigration status. If the person stopped is illegal, the police have the legal obligation to deliver these people to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). If ICE rejects them, at least the Framingham police have done their job. The message to illegals would be clear that Framingham is not their home. However, the Framingham police have chosen not to lift a finger against illegals. This behaviour is clearly spelled out in the police chief's sanctuary policy.
If the police chief doesn't believe he has enough in his budget to enforce Federal immigration laws, what is that $11 million we the taxpayers shell out each year for the police department. I suggest we start reducing the police chief's salary by $15,000 a year until such time that he enforces US immigration laws in the same manner that he enforces marijuana laws.
Even after some training with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Framingham police still won't deal with the illegal alien until he/she commits a more serious crime. In fact, the Framingham police have a Brazilian Citizen Police Academy to help illegals.
The police have always enforced US marijuana laws and they should always enforce US immigration laws.
In an open society, people on the front lines of the criminal justice system have an ethical duty to speak out on controversial social and legal issues that affect the public they serve. Police and other public officials can speak freely on controversial topics such as the urgent need to seek better ways to deal with the crisis of drugs and illegal immigration that plagues American society. In Framingham, both public officials and the police are mute on the subject of illegal immigration and we may surmise from the police policy on immigration that they endorse such behaviour.
Our government teaches the whole people by its example. If the government
becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man
to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.
